Woman Travels From Amsterdam to Seattle Had Measles

The Seattle Times reported this morning that a female passenger who had the measles passed through the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on March 26th.

The woman, who is in her 20's, flew on Northwest Airlines Flight 33 from Amsterdam to Seattle, where she switched to Horizon Airlines Flight 2243 to Portland.

She developed a rash on March 28th, possibly exposing other passengers that were seated near her on the flights.

Measles is contagious from the fourth day prior to the rash appearing till about the fourth day after the rash appears. According to the CDC, measles is spread by contact with an infected person, through coughing and sneezing and is HIGHLY contagious.
