The warning was issued after "officials" noticed a posting on a "Jihadist Web site" calling for an attack on United States internet-based stock market and banking sites in December.
There is no information corroborating the threat according to Russ Knocke, spokesman from the DHS. Adding that the alert was issued "as a routine matter and out of an abundance of caution. There is no immediate threat to our homeland at this time."
This comes at a time of increasing economic crisis throughout the United State and the world and in addition to reports that the World Bank has been allegedly hacked and has been under siege since last April.
Though the World Bank is denying the story, up to as many as 40 servers may have been compromised according to the report.
Now it seems Russia is working on deploying a new nuclear missile designed to penetrate missile defense shields and is building eight new subs to carry the missiles.
This is in addition to giving Venezuela a $1 Billion dollar arms deal that was done after the United States decided to put a missile shield in Poland.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions on this and would love to hear your thoughts as well.
As I wrote in an earlier posting, New Cold War Heats Up it appears that a new Russia is taking shape, making new allies and offering help to sworn enemies of the United States.
As the old saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Russia, has sent two Tupolev Tu-160 bombers (NATO reporting name Blackjack) for joint maneuvers to Venezuela. The aircraft are strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear payloads and a range of 10,800 miles.
Russia has also threatened Poland and the Ukraine over the proposed missile shield. Has tested a new Next-Generation Ballistic Missie, and is offering new help to Iran including selling them their own air defense technology.
Ironically, Russia seems to have taken this new stance after the terrorist attack at the school in Beslan and has decided to take a hard line stance mostly against the West and Putin (who most believe is still in charge) has publicly stated that the collapse of the former Soviet Union is the worst catastrophe of the 20th Century.
Given the events around the world Russia has chosen some strange new bed fellows in the hopes of again becoming a super power with its new found oil wealth. Though they have taken a beating in their markets after the Georgian invasion.
All of that said however it appears that Russia has drawn a line in the sand, and appear to be starting a new cold war.
Even if unintended, all of this will have far reaching consequence since it appeared that Israel and or the United States and our allies may have been planning an attack on Iran. If this does occur, it could lead to the breakout of the next world war.
Though unlikely to happen, it will give Iran better odds of acquiring a nuclear weapon. The only question is, will they launch it on Israel, or sell it to terrorists in the hopes of using it on the United States, or somewhere in Europe?
NOTE: The sources below are numerous but worth the time to read and will shed more light on what I describe above.
Hezbollah has been operating an increasingly large number of mini-subs in the Caribbean and have been spotted heading near Souther and Western areas of the United States.
The Navy has stepped up patrols of the areas suspecting they are smuggling weapons into the United States, and the U.S. Cost Gard has encountered 27 such vessels.
The Navy is reporting that the number of these subs being operated by Hezbollah is up from about three in 2006 to a reported 30 in 2007.
This is a very real threat, especially since Hezbollah receives funding and orders directly from Iran. It could be a cause for extreme concern if Israel or the United States does take some type of military action against the regime or its nuclear facilities as some are suggesting is a possibility.
The United States is not confirming the story, however multiple news sources are indicating that a raid took place inside Pakistan to kill and or capture militants, and Al Qaeda forces in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
After the raid took place Pakistan is saying that the United States relied on bad intelligence and that only innocent civilians were killed, including woman and children. Though I myself do not belive that report.
Pakistan is also claiming we violated their territorial rights, however, I would like to dispute this claim, since Pakistan has publicly made statements that they are unable to control this part of their territory, and they have confirmed that Al Qaeda has freedom of movement in an area that has become largely like Afghanistan prior to the United States driving out the Taliban in 2001.
If they are unable to establish control over a region, how can they claim that it is their sovereign territory? So on this basis I would like to dispute that Pakistan has the right to that region, and if they do have control, then they themselves are giving shelter to terrorists.
In either case, I say it is about time we strated operating in this region and drive the terrorists out of their caves.
Though I doubt that the actions will be confirmed, I hope this leads to many more such actions.
